Carbonation is a timeless process that has been carried out for centuries. It is what gives carbonated soda or beer its bubbly effervescence. In the absence of this process, regardless of how delectable your beverage may be, it simply won't deliver the same level of gratification.

Carbonation is a process in which carbon dioxide is infused into a liquid. Normally, gas and liquid do not easily mix and are considered "insoluble" with each other. However, in carbonation, the pressure is taken into account to effectively blend the carbon dioxide with the liquid. By monitoring the partial pressure of CO2 in its surroundings, one can determine the amount of CO2 that has already dissolved in the liquid. To achieve this, a chart must be followed to ensure that the required pressure is not exceeded, thus preventing the addition of an excessive amount of gas in the tank or container. If too much carbon dioxide is added, there is a high risk of excessive fizzing and, even worse, an explosion may occur.

This CO2 can be added to your liquid either forcefully (called force carbonation) or naturally (with the help of sugar and yeast). Either way, you will be able to achieve that fizz or sparkle that you get when you open a can of your favorite soft drink or beer.

You can also simply add seltzer to your juice, and watch it sparkle to give you the same effect. It's very quick and easy and works every time.

Please note that temperature is also a crucial factor in carbonation. The higher the temperature, the less amount of CO2 will dissolve in the liquid. Carbon dioxide dislikes hot temperatures. Therefore, it is more preferable to use cold liquid to ensure an effective process. If you choose natural carbonation, ensure that you place the carbonated bottles or tank in a cold environment, such as your refrigerator, to stop the carbonation process. This will keep the yeast in hibernation mode, preventing them from consuming excessive amounts of sugar. The result will be a drink with a more appealing taste and less carbon dioxide and alcohol by-products.

A carbonated drink, free from added chemicals and excessive sugar, is not harmful to your health. When consumed, you are essentially digesting carbon dioxide, which is a commonly found gas molecule. So go ahead and enjoy a refreshing beverage without the worry of gaining weight.
